It’s not a traditional cigar, but it’s not a traditionally non-traditional cigar either 😂 😂

It has a sweetened cap, and distinct notes of vanilla. But on the tail end of the first third, you get a nice pleasant Cedar note that stays throughout the cigar.

It’s definitely worth picking up a five pack.

Nothing like that first cigar after a long day of turning wrenches. This one was on my mind all day, the Española Cigars Connecticut.

And yes, before that one guy says it, my fingernails are still dirty. I scrub them, but I’m pretty sure they’re permanently stained from life as a mechanic. Dirty hands, clean money. 🤷‍♂️

I know, craving a Connecticut at the end of the day sounds backwards to some folks, but we’ve talked about this more than once on the podcast. Lately, that’s exactly what I reach for. Not a super mild, sleepy Connecticut, but a solid medium-bodied, creamy smoke with some real spice behind it.

The Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper brings that creamy, nutty profile, while the Mexican San Andrés binder adds just enough spice to hit the spot. A perfect end-of-day Connecticut, especially after the shop lights go off. 🔥💨

Kicking off the morning in the workshop assembling some butane lighter air bleed tools, paired with an El Pulpo.

I picked this one up from Billy and Gus last night at Big Smoke Meets Whiskey Fest at the Hard Rock Tampa, where Jess and I had the pleasure of attending.

Everyone knows I’m a huge fan of DTT so you might be surprised to know that this is my first Wagashi.

I have my few core cigars that I enjoy, and I really stick to those so I don’t go out and hunt down everything that’s new like I used to years ago.

I’m a little disappointed that I didn’t hunt this one down sooner.

It has an amazing super sweet cream note on the cold draw. Upon lighting your palate is hit with wet hay and a note that I can only describe as roasted peanuts that have had their salt licked off already. I know it’s a strange way to describe something, but I’m not a cigar reviewer.

There is a note on the finish that I cannot pinpoint because it is so fleeting. It’s there and almost instantly it’s gone. I want to say it’s a very muted gingerbread, but I also want to say it’s kind of a muted nutmeg.

Anyway, it’s a great cigar and kudos to Saka and the Dojo crew for bringing a not boring Connecticut to market.

After a long day working on the humidor I wanted to relax with something strong and spicy. And since Jessica is still at work I thought I’d go with the new La Vereda by Crowned Heads. I’ll be honest, when I read that this cigar is made with two different Ligero leaves, a Criollo 99 from Nicaragua, and a Piloto Cuban from the DR I was a little worried it would be overpowering. Wow, was I wrong! Yes it is a strong cigar, but it’s so well balanced it’s not overpowering at all! This just might be my new favorite Crowned Heads!
