The Matilde Special Edition cigar debuted in 2024, featuring one of the more diverse recipes to date from Matilde Cigars. This beings with an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, which is secured over a Nicaraguan binder and fillers from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, and Peru. The latter was included as a nod to José Seijas, father of Matilde Cigars owner, Enrique Seijas, and the former manager of the Tabacalera de García factory in the DR. José Seijas has long been a fan of cigars with Peruvian leaf, inspiring Enrique to showcase the tobacco on the Matilde Special Edition.
