The Espinosa Grootslang continued the Rare Species series, being themed around "[a] creature of South African folklore described as a giant elephant-headed serpent that dwells deep in a mysterious cave known as the 'Bottomless Pit' guarding a trove of exotic diamonds." The cigars were made exclusive for retailer Best Cigar Prices, being limited to 100 bundles of 10. Grootslang featured a cafe Habano wrapper and all-Nicaraguan binder/fillers, being described as "robust in deep, earthy flavor with subtle spicy-sweet nuances."
