Rosewood 1923 is the first cigar from Black Star Line to be rolled out of the boutique-favorite Fabrica Oveja Negra factory in Estelí, Nicaragua, which is closely associated with brands such as Black Label Trading Co. and Black Works Studio. With Rosewood 1923, Black Star Line draws attention to the racially motivated massacre that took place in Levy County, Florida in 1923; additionally, the cigar commemorates John Singleton, the filmmaker who brought the event to life through the 1997 film Rosewood. With the Rosewood 1923 cigar, a Mexican San Andrés maduro wrapper surrounds an Ecuadorian binder and fillers from the DR and Nicaragua.
