Keeping with the psychological theme of Asylum, the Sensorium gets its name from a term that is defined as "The parts of the brain or the mind concerned with the reception and interpretation of sensory stimuli.” The cigar is billed as a super-premium offering, making use of a unique tobacco dubbed Piñareno. This Cuban-seed tobacco was grown by Julio Eiroa during the '70s, but was eventually shelved due to its susceptibility to various molds and diseases. Said to lose 25 to 40% of each harvest due to these defects, the leaf is a labor of love, and is described by Asylum co-owner Christian Eiroa as "the tastiest tobacco I have ever tasted." The Sensorium cigar uses this leaf within the filler, being joined by all-Honduran Corojo throughout the blend.
