Apparently, a roller at La Gloria has to have a minimum of 15 years experience to roll a Gran Legado! The signature of the roller is on a special band on each cigar, and that recognition is very cool, IMO. This is a big 7 3/4 x 62 cigar, often taking 3-4 hours to smoke. Enjoyable to me, alot of smoke, easy to draw, subtly sweet, with notes of cocoa nibs, cedar, and faint black pepper…mostly consistent throughout. Fairly even burn, I touched it up a few times, understandable. Will try to find again, but very limited production.

This could definitely be comparison bias as I recently had a top cigar experience in the La Aurora Preferidos 1903 Edition Emerald Ecuador. However, I didn’t care for this Avo jointly created with musician Avo Uvezian, and the first Avo I can say I couldn’t dance to. I found a lack of positive notes and a general flavor muddiness. And constant touchups needed showed a poor tobacco arrangement. Improperty stored? Tobacco impurities? Both possibilities, so I would give it another play.

La Aurora rarely disappoints. This more recent 107 series cigar had a wonderfully complex flavor profile. I had notes of leather, cashews, cocoa, etc. throughout most of the stick, a great balance of all the flavors. Consistent smoky burn that i didn’t want to end.

Notes of maple, coffee with cream, vanilla, milk chocolate. Flavor consistent throughout, notes melded wonderfully. Somewhat of a tight draw in this one, leading to two relights in the last 1/3. Still highly recommend for nice mild cigar. My son would like this one.

Earth, oak, and natural tobacco led to a nice smoke except for hitting 2 spots of amonia, suggesting a hiccup in the curing or fermentation process. Possibly a second wouldn’t have this issue and I could give the next one a thumbs up.
