Vegas de Santiago is a vertically integrated operation out of Costa Rica. The company comes from the Niehaus family, who emigrated to the region from Switzerland, growing tobacco in the Puriscal region of Costa Rica for over 80 years. The company was formerly joined by Don Luis Santana Lamas, a master of tobacco agriculture, processing, and manufacturing, who worked for 25 years at the H. Upmann factory in Cuba. After his passing, Vegas de Santiago now carries on his legacy and cigarmaking practices through their operations in Costa Rica.
