Don Lucas Cigars was developed after Philippe Gillet visited the Dominican Republic for the first time in 1990, returning two years later to craft his own cigar brand. Both a brand and factory (as well as gift shop, coffee shop, jewelry shop, cocoa processing factory, and rum tasting facilitator), Don Lucas has increased in capacity tremendously, moving from a humble two-roller operation to 45 employees today. The company is based in Punta Cana, and is one of the more popular destinations of the region.
