Casa de Ortez represents the solo venture of Indiana Ortez, a rising talent in the premium cigar space. Indiana is the youngest of the third generation of the Ortez family in the tobacco industry, who describe themselves as "Nicaragua's oldest tobacco family." Unlike most Nicaraguan manufacturers, the Ortez family is located in the Condega region, which is north of the more conventional region of Estelí. Indiana has formerly worked with various cigar brands out of her family's Condega factory, and was named general manager of Mombacho Cigars in 2021. But with Casa de Ortez, she seeks to highlight her family's expertise of the Condega tobacco region.
