Alex Spencer Reserve was founded by Alex Spencer in 2017, offering boutique-style cigars to hobbyists in the Cincinnati, OH region. Spencer regrouped in 2019, re-working his core offering as 'The Mansa' and partnering with Tabacalera G. Kafie out of Honduras for production. In 2022, Kafie moved production to the La Aurora factory in the DR, and Alex Spencer Reserve followed. The company is known for its boutique focus, as well as celebrating black and African culture and history.
