When Espinosa Premium Cigars began running low on the Brazilian tobacco used in the company's Laranja cigar, they started tinkering with tweaked versions of the blend as a replacement. Years later, one such blend was revived by the Limited Cigar Association, naming the cigar Blood Orange as a nod to Laranja (which is Portuguese for Orange). At the time of release, the cigars are said to have four years' age.
