Retailer JR Cigar revamped their "Crafted by" series in 2023, kicking off the modern "Crafted by JR" series with the Crafted by JR: Crowned Heads Edition 2023. Where the former cigars were simply handled by popular cigar brands and sold exclusively by JR, the updated approach is much more hands on from JR, with the JR team guiding each project from the ground up. This includes everything from the name to the logo to packaging and blend profile. With the Crowned Heads Edition 2023, the cigar uses an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, a Connecticut Broadleaf binder, and all-Nicaraguan fillers from the country's Jalapa, Condega, and Ometepe regions.
