In 2023, Tatuaje and My Father Cigars introduced the La Union project as the first official collaboration between the two companies, being made to celebrate their 20th anniversary working together. The collaboration consists of four blends, being spilt between two boxes: Black and Red. Each box contains 20 cigars blended by Pete Johnson (of Tatuaje) for the Garcías and 20 cigars blended by the Garcías for Tatuaje. The La Union - Tatuaje for My Father (Black) cigar was one of two blends within the La Union Prominente Especial Black box, which was the first of the two boxes to be released. The cigars feature a shade-grown Nicaraguan Corojo ’99 wrapper and all-Nicaraguan binder/fillers from the Garcías' fields throughout the country; this includes the use of the rare Pelo de Oro tobacco, which has typically been reserved for the finest offerings out of the famed My Father Cigars factory. Each of the four blends were rolled in the same 7¼" x 50 Prominente Especial format (including a 109-style head), being limited to 120,000 cigars (30,000 cigars per blend). The La Union - Tatuaje for My Father (Black) cigar was blended by Pete Johnson for My Father, being differentiated by its black sub-band and a covered-foot construction.
