While the ESV line from Perdomo has seen multiple releases over the years, the Perdomo ESV 1991 Vintage Regente is the original, debuting in 2005. The cigars were made in homage to the late Nick Perdomo Sr., who had passed away in 2004. Nick had purchased a selection of 1991-harvest Nicaraguan tobaccos in 1995, which were later found in the Tabacalera Perdomo factory and incorporated into the Perdomo ESV 1991 Vintage Regente cigar, which was finished with a Connecticut Shade wrapper.
